Shanghai Museum




China’s largest ancient art museum has a mind-boggling collection of 120,000 precious exhibits including bronze, pottery, porcelain, calligraphy and painting. Opened in 1952, the museum used to be housed in the building of old Shanghai’s horse racing club on West Nanjing Road. In October of 1959, it moved into a building on Middle Henan Road. In 1992, the local government made the decision to build the facility for Shanghai Musuem ideally located in People’s Square. No admisstion ticket is required for a visit.
